Yame Matcha
Ceremonial Single Cultivar

Yame Matcha
Ceremonial Single Cultivar
- Size
A single-cultivar ceremonial-grade matcha, made from Yabukita tencha grown in Yame, Fukuoka.
Yame is Japan's gyokuro region. Fog rises from the Yabe River and settles over the fields, and growers here shade the tea longer than most matcha regions. The extended cover concentrates ooika — the aroma of shaded leaf — and the amino acids behind sweetness and umami.
A clean Yabukita profile with a nutty, toasted sweetness
Mellow sweetness, with bitterness held low by the long shading
Vivid emerald color in the bowl
Single-cultivar clarity, with enough structure for milk.

Beneath the Shade

Yame and the Yabe River
Yame lies along the Yabe River basin in Fukuoka, a region closely associated with Japan's finest shaded teas. Mist, rainfall, and pronounced shifts between day and night shape a growing environment in which covering the leaf has become a defining skill.
For this matcha, first-flush Yabukita is shaded before harvest. Reduced light encourages the leaf to retain the sweetness and umami that would otherwise give way to sharper astringency.

A Regional Alternative
Yame Matcha gives buyers a regional profile outside Uji: single-cultivar Yabukita shaped by extended shading in Fukuoka. Its mellow sweetness and vivid color read clearly as usucha, while the cultivar's structure remains present with milk.
It suits menus that want origin to function as a real point of comparison rather than a decorative label. One product can introduce Yame in a bowl, a latte, or a tasting flight without losing the regional distinction.
